Projects Research oriented projects
At the core of the activities of The Swedish Research Institute in Istanbul (SRII) are various research oriented projects. The Labraunda excavation in the vicinity of Milas (Bodrum) is the most longstanding project in progress.
Projects connected to SRII cover a wide range of topics, especially within the Humanities and the Social Sciences. They are mainly initiated and run by the director, the members of the Board of Trustees, the holders of the various scholarships granted by the Institute, and by other members of SRII (Forskarkollegiet).
Research projects carried out within the framework of the Institute are usually externally financed. Important fund-providing institutions/foundations in Sweden are Vetenskapsrådet, Riksbankens Jubileumsfond, Vitterhetsakademien, STINT etc.
